Ships' Wheel  One of the Museum's most cherished artifacts is the original ships' wheel from the U.S.S. Constitution ("Old Ironsides"). During a sea battle with the H.M.S Java in the War of 1812 the Constitutions' wheel was severely damaged. After winning the decisive encounter, Commodore William Bainbridge, Captain of "Old Ironsides", had the damaged wheel of the Constitution replaced with the wheel from the Java before the ship was scuttled.
