This is the model of the NS Savannah after it's initial cleaning. The cleaning process involved using a soft artist's size brush and a mini vac to remove loose dirt. Then the hull and deck were cleaned (again, with small artist's brushes) using a very mild solution of TSP (Trisodium phosphate) in warm distilled water and rinsed with cold clean distilled water. The model is sitting in it's transportation board awaiting the next step in the restoration process, attaching (gluing) some loose parts and tightening of slack lines. When this is finished, it will be mounted on a display board and placed in a vented acrylic display case to join the rest of the Museums' model collection. |
