The 142 Gallery
The US Merchant Marine Academy sustained a loss of 142 cadets in World War II while fulfilling their training requirements at sea on merchant ships, and therefore it is the only federal academy of the five authorized to carry a battle flag with its color guard. These Cadets are honored at the Museum in the 142 Gallery.
